Since I can remember, dogs have been part of my life. When I have learned how to read I spent hours and hours, dug in dog-books, deciding which breed would suit me best. I wanted a nice looking dog, who lives to work and cooperate with me, as I had a wish to try myself in dog sports. When I was seventeen, my wish finally came true with Mac. After loosing our family dog, parents finally allowed me to get my own dog. By pure coincidence I found Mawlch kennel and they have just had a litter of 7 pups (3 males and 5 females). I immediately reserved a male and after a long wait I finally got Mac or Mak as I call him. As a puppy he had tons of energy and interesting ideas how to spend it. So as a exemplary owner I took him to a puppy school and afterwards to a real dog school, which we finished with two basic obedience exams (named A and BBh in our country). Because I wanted to do something more with him, we started to train search and rescue, but unfortunately after one year we had to stop due to lack of time and my moving to Ljubljana. But there we could finally start training agility with Polona Bonač. After a couple months of training we started to compete. In first season we came to class A2. ![]() Unfortunately when he was three years old he injured his right hip... We've been to veterinarians all around Slovenia and also in Zurich, but all have had similar advice. Rest and then gradually strengthening the muscles around injured hip. Because of that we were dedicating our time to obedience and – what he is more talented at – herding. I sincerely hope we manage to make a herding exam and compete in some trials! With time and help of glucosamine his hip got much better and we are back to agility and all the action imaginable to him! ![]() Never mind the circumstances he is always more than ready for action. Should there be a case in my unwillingless for it, he will fire all his “weapons” to persuade me otherwise. He absolutely adores people and is sure visit come to us solely because of him. Even though he is a bit of a cripple, he remains good old Mak, who can never resist scaring squirrels away, splashing in all kinds of water (even those I am not quite fond of...) and his favourite – catching birds on the fields. He is always happy, cheerful, looking up on everything with his big yellow eyes and a wide grin over his face. ![]() |
